Indigenous Literacies/Modalities & the Visual Arts

Workshop Fee: $1450
Held over to full-day sessions, these sessions will look at s multi-modalities and multi-literacies through a cultural lens, and how these show up in numerous Indigenous visual arts forms such as beading, weaving, drum-making, storytelling through painting – and more! Participants will add to their toolkits how to incorporate the teachings in this session into various subjects in the classroom (Indigenous art forms are all about mathematics, science and storytelling!). Staff will be able to choose one art piece to produce over the course of the sessions (kits will be an additional cost). Don’t consider yourself an artist? Not to worry – all that is required is a curious, open mind and an open heart!
