Transforming Lateral Violence into Lateral Kindness
2 Day Workshop
Workshop Fee: $1550
Lateral violence is a reality often experienced within families, in community and in the workplace. In this session, participants will learn how to identify lateral violence and unconscious bias, what internalized racism is, understand why these things exist, and how to prevent and navigate behaviours that arise as a result of these. Participants will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the intersectionality of lateral violence and other forms of violence, and learn how transforming lateral violence into lateral kindness can lead to violence prevention. The application of traditional Indigenous methods of restorative justice and governance, team-building exercises and charter creation are used in this interactive workshop. This workshop is suitable for Nations (community members and/or chief and council/staff), professional development groups, and staff working for non-profit organizations.
This workshop can be delivered via Zoom or in-person, but is most effective when presented in-person, as
greater capacity and team-building can be achieved this way.
