Understanding Educational Trauma
2 Day Session for educators
Workshop Fee: $1450
1 Day Session for community members
Workshop Fee: $825
Using the model of Indigenous sharing circles and other methods, this workshop aims to serve both current educators and those who have experienced educational trauma during their own educational journeys. In this workshop, participants will become more proficient in identifying and understanding how unconscious bias influences practice, and how our educational experiences inform our ways of learning and interacting with the world around us as learners and teachers. Educators will learn to better understand the historical and contemporary effects of colonization on education, and therefore how to better work with learners that carry educational trauma that may be intergenerational and/or experienced first-hand. Educators will leave the sessions able to add to their toolkits more practical knowledge in how to enhance culturally informed and responsive practices.
This workshop is offered via Zoom or in-person, though in-person is recommended.
In honouring participants and acknowledging the difficult subject matter associated with this workshop,
the hiring host(s) will be required to provide on-site spiritual support for this workshop; this must be
secured before workshop takes place.
